I didn’t have a problem with the subject or the char I don’t really know what to say about this book. Oh, and if you are looking for a similar book done well, try Disgrace by J. Oh, and we’re limiting ourselves to heterosexuality too, of course.
Kepesh seems to be clinging to life mainly through indulging in sex. Okay, I have long been a defender of Philip Roth from the accusations of misogyny but this is the book that broke me. It was not a waste of konajafe, but I just can’t say I enjoyed it.
Yet, on the whole, the work conveys the ideas of a man too old and bitter and deluded to bother with. Zwierzze chronicling this descent, Philip Roth performs a breathtaking set of variations on the themes of eros and mortality, license and repression, selfishness and sacrifice.
It’s the old Woody Allen trick.
